Cheek treatment
Volume is replaced deep, usually on the bone, restoring projection and lateral contour — and indirectly supporting the midface above the nasolabial fold.
Volume and duration
A first treatment is typically 1ml to 2ml across both sides. Blinded trial data supports around twelve months of clearly maintained effect in roughly three-quarters of patients — not the two years you will see advertised.
Downtime
Bruising and swelling for three to seven days. Deep injections bruise less visibly but can ache for several days, and tenderness on chewing or lying on that side is common for about a week.
What actually goes wrong here
The commonest bad outcome is not a complication — it is over-filling. It does not appear in trial data as an adverse event because it is not one: it is an aesthetic judgement. A face that has been over-volumised reads as heavier, not fresher, and it is difficult to undo well.
Placed too superficially, cheek filler can also cause malar oedema — fluid sitting over the cheekbone, which can persist. The infraorbital and facial vessels are within range of this area.
